CIVCO Medical Instruments will introduce a new needle guide for ultrasound-guided puncture procedures at this month's RSNA show. The Kolona, IA, manufacturer will also demonstrate new enhancements for a previous model.
The Ultra-Pro 3 will fit existing Ultra-Pro style brackets customized for a number of ultrasound manufacturers, including Aloka, B-K Medical, GE Healthcare, Hitachi, Medison, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite, Terason, and Toshiba.
Ultra-Pro 3 uses a two-part system of biopsy bracket and needle guide, providing a fixed path for the visualization of ultrasound-guided procedures. CIVCO said the guide has several unique features, including a quick-release for easy detachment of the needle from the transducer during a puncture procedure, a gauge selector to identify gauge sizes in a darkened suite, and two disposable inserts: the first with 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 gauge selection, and the second with 16, 17, 18, 20, and 22 gauge selection.
The other new CIVCO introductions are enhancements for the Ultra-Pro II ultrasound needle guide. It will now have a large tab for improved quick-release function, easy-to-read gauge sizes on the inserts, plus a large funnel for instrument insertion. The Ultra-Pro II will accept a full range of instrument sizes, including 8.5 French and 14-23 gauges.
