Israeli surgical products developer Mazor Surgical Technologies has released version 4 of its SpineAssist system.
The new upgrade minimizes the amount of fluoroscopy radiation exposure required for minimally invasive lumbar surgeries, and also has other new features, according to the firm. With the new release, only two fluoroscopic images with one to two seconds of x-ray exposure are required to guide the surgery, a 50% improvement over the previous version of SpineAssist.
Users are also now able to scroll slice by slice through a CT image in both the planning stage and during surgery, Mazor said. The system also includes a new hardware redesign to support access to a larger surgical area.
