Fidex combines CT, digital and computed radiography, and fluoroscopy into a single system that takes up slightly more space than a standard veterinary digital radiography unit. Its CT component uses conebeam CT/C-arm technology more often seen in human oral surgical practice, rather than the fanbeam/helical scan technology used in most human medical environments, the company said.
Fidex makes it practical for small-animal veterinary practices and research laboratories to have advanced, multimodality diagnostic imaging capability. Fidex could also provide opportunities for new revenue from referred imaging orders as well as billings for advanced imaging. Fidex is projected to be available during the third quarter of 2009.
