Philips Healthcare parent company Royal Philips and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have expanded the eICU Collaborative Research Database (eICU-CRD) for artificial intelligence (AI) research.

The database is maintained by MIT's Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES) and has been updated to include de-identified data of 200,000 critical care patients, including patients who were impacted by COVID-19. Researchers at Philips and the IMES Laboratory of Computational Physiology work with researchers around the world to access the data to develop AI algorithms and provide insights on critical care.
