Radiology information systems firm RIS Logic of Solon, OH, has launched version 2.0 of its flagship RIS Logic CS software. The new version includes optional modules for mammography, as well as embedded digital dictation and barcode claiming.
The software’s mammography module includes support for the American College of Cardiology’s BI-RADS mammography reporting lexicon, and also features categorizing and tracking rules. It automatically generates patient letters for sending appointment reminders and reporting results.
The digital dictation module was developed through RIS Logic’s partnership with dictation firm Dictaphone of Stratford, CT. Voice files can be stored or deleted after transcription or signature and permanently saved. The module integrates with the workflow of the RIS, eliminating interfaces and improving accuracy of patient data and reports, according to the company.
Finally, version 2.0’s barcode claiming feature allows radiologists to use barcode technology to scan a film jacket so that the RIS can automatically "claim" the associated exam from the database and pull it up on a dictation worklist without the radiologist ever touching the keypad.
