Merge eFilm

Merge eFilm adds RIS functionality via RIS Logic purchase.

Merge Ris PACS firm Merge eFilm’s acquisition of RIS Logic is bearing fruit with the launch of Fusion RIS/PACS. The addition of a RIS Logic RIS module to Fusion PACS facilitates interoperability between the RIS and PACS, according to the Milwaukee-based firm.

Integration can also be accomplished with third-party RIS or PACS networks, the firm said. The RIS Logic component includes an optional mammography tracking module that supports MQSA and BI-RADS compliance, categorization and tracking rules, and automatic generation of patient letters for reporting of results. An appointment reminder letter feature is also included, along with a full suite of clinical and business workflow management tools dedicated to the scheduling, tracking, interpreting, reporting, distributing and billing of diagnostic imaging studies.

An optional embedded digital dictation module utilizes Dictaphone technology for dictation and playback throughout RIS workflow, Merge eFilm said. A Bar Code Claiming feature supports the scanning of film jackets, enabling the RIS to "claim" the associated exam and post it to the radiologist's worklist.

Fusion RIS/PACS will be available in the first quarter of 2004. In addition, both RIS Logic CS and Fusion Server products will continue to be developed and supported, the company said.
