eDictation

eDictation has added speech recognition technology to its structured reporting software.

The provider has combined version 7 of ScanSoft's Dragon speech-recognition engine with its traditional structured reporting product. This combination allows radiologists to use eDictation as a stand-alone speech recognition system, or simply use its traditional "point-and-click" reporting technology, according to the Marlton, NJ-based vendor.

Users can also choose to combine elements of both to suit their workflow, eDictation said. Once signed, Web-based reports are immediately distributed on practice letterhead in whatever manner preferred by the referring physician, including faxing, printing, and emailing.

Report information is stored in a structured reporting database, which can be mined for practice management, compliance, and research information, according to the vendor. Integration with RIS and PACS networks can be achieved via standards such as HL7, eDictation said.
