IDX brings Imagecast RIS to show floor at RSNA.

IDX Systems of Burlington, VT, will be highlighting its Imagecast RIS at this year’s RSNA conference. The product uses platform-independent Web architecture that provides an open gateway to multiple desktop operating systems, the company said. The architecture allows for scalability as well as clustering capabilities. All Imagecast data, including medical imaging, are supported by disaster recovery utilizing in-house data centers or as a service from IDX.

The product’s distributed and scalable application services model includes a browser-based thin client, a presentation layer, business services, a data-access layer, and a relational database. Imagecast incorporates a fully published metadata model for hundreds of included standard reports, as well as for custom report creation. The information systems also have dozens of workflow-driven trigger points for automated custom report printing, faxing, and e-mailing.

Imagecast RIS features rules-based multi-organizational scheduling, patient and image tracking, document management, an integrated mammography administration module, multiple diagnostic reporting options, and outcome monitoring. Data analysis and reporting capabilities facilitate operational improvements and decision-making, the vendor said.

The product is targeted toward the integrated delivery network (IDN), large hospital, and academic medical center market, focusing on institutions that perform more than 50,000 exams a year or have more than 200 beds, IDX said.
