Siemens, Mountain States sign clinical IT agreement

Siemens Medical Solutions and Mountain States Health Alliance (MHSA) of Johnson City, TN, have signed a deal for the Malvern, PA-based vendor to implement a suite of its clinical IT systems.

Included in the agreement are the firm's Soarian Common Clinicals, Cardiology, Clinical Access, Scheduling, and Health Information Management components, as well as the company's PDAccess software for handheld devices, a Siemens Pharmacy component, and its Med Administration Check system that uses bar code technology to alert personnel to potential medication administration errors.

The systems will be implemented in three phases over the course of five years at MHSA's eight hospitals and more than 60 affiliated hospitals and nursing homes, Siemens said.
