Healthcare informatics developer Empiric Systems will be debuting its Encompass.Net RIS/PACS, billing system, and management suite at the 2004 RSNA show.
Encompass.Net represents a full rewrite of the Raleigh, NC-based Empiric's vRIS that it demonstrated at the previous two RSNA conferences. The system has been converted to Microsoft's.Net development platform and sports new features including integrated PACS, integrated billing, referring physician functions, and a host of management tools, according to the firm.
The RIS portion of Encompass.Net includes patient registration, exam scheduling, transcription, centralized report faxing, digital dictation, PDA support, multisite support, HIPAA audit tracking, management reporting, mammography tracking, a billing module, film library management, electronic report signatures, document imaging, and bidirectional imaging capabilities.
The PACS portion of the application features an integrated Web PACS viewer, image routing and archive management, DICOM modality worklist capabilities, and RIS-integrated workstation options. The developer has added referring physician functions to the product such as online study requests, online report access, and online image access.
Encompass.Net has been bolstered with the addition of management tools for equipment maintenance, staff and time attendance, staff competency tracking, and an e-learning management system, Empiric said.
The product is targeted toward imaging centers and small- to medium-sized hospitals, and will be available in the U.S. in January next year. Empiric said it is offering Encompass.Net in capital, per-procedure, and lease-based pricing models.
