Philips Medical Systems

Philips will be debuting a new RIS offering as a work-in-progress at this year's RSNA show.

The application, powered by healthcare informatics developer Epic Systems of Madison, WI, is capable of interfacing with any healthcare information system (HIS) to accept demographics, orders, and communicate results via a library of standard HL7 interfaces, according to Bothell, WA-based Philips.

The RIS features rules-based appointment scheduling, billing, and charge capture that supports split billing for professional and hospital charges, and documentation tools that support dictation, speech recognition, and transcription.

The product, currently under development, is scheduled for release only in the North American market.
