Medical imaging software developer Cedara Software has debuted OrthoWorks Care Manager, an orthopedic knowledge management system. The company also has a range of other new software applications on tap for the upcoming RSNA show in Chicago.
OrthoWorks Care Manager collects and organizes information about past patient outcomes to aid orthopedic surgeons, hospital administrators, insurance companies, and implant manufacturers to make better surgical therapy, patient care, and healthcare budget decisions, according to the Mississauga, Ontario-based vendor.
The software provides a central database, from which results such as implant usage, pain thresholds, recovery rates, complications, mobility, and mortality statistics can be extracted, Cedara said.
At the RSNA show, the company will be featuring its Cedara Breast Imaging application, which provides CAD support for multiple imaging modalities. It includes prototype ultrasound CAD software, called B-CAD, that provides detailed information on breast lesions. The application also enables radiologists to view images from a full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system side by side with prior digitized analog images.
Cedara CT Works is an application for navigating massive amounts of data produced by multislice CT studies. It includes a dynamic worklist manager for managing patient lists, as well as interactive thick-slab MPR and MIP rendering modes; curved and batch MPRs; and connectivity to imaging modalities via DICOM 3.0.
Cedara PET/CT solutions is a prototype workstation for oncology treatment that's designed to enable oncologists to measure the effectiveness of cancer treatments much earlier than previously possible, according to the company. Cedara is also previewing a plug-in for PET/CT and SPECT/CT exams that enables images from these studies to be integrated with a PACS.
Finally, Cedara will show a 3D ultrasound guidance application that enables real-time image guidance for needles used in needle biopsies and other interventional procedures.
