Healthcare information technology consulting firm Superior Consultant Holdings of Southfield, MI, has agreed to be acquired by Affiliated Computer Services, a Dallas-based technology outsourcing firm.
Under the terms of the deal, ACS will acquire all outstanding shares of Superior for $8.50 per share in cash. Superior's healthcare management and IT consulting and healthcare IT outsourcing businesses will be combined with ACS' healthcare provider operations, with the resulting business operating as ACS Healthcare Services.
Superior CEO Richard Helppie will become managing director of ACS Healthcare Services. Other Superior executives, including executive vice president Charles Bracken and COO George Huntzinger, will join ACS after the deal is completed.
The boards of both firms have approved the sale, which is expected to close during the first quarter of 2005.
