In a project valued at $17.2 million, healthcare information technology vendor McKesson of Atlanta has inked a deal to install its Horizon Clinicals software and set up an electronic health record system at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, a nonprofit Catholic healthcare system in Wisconsin.
The project will span two states, nine hospitals, and nearly 100 outpatient facilities. Wheaton will upgrade and standardize the technology infrastructures in its Milwaukee and Racine, WI, regions to deliver a single, integrated EHR.
The initiative involves the deployment of McKesson's ambulatory EHR system, Horizon Ambulatory Care, which will be used to automate Wheaton's newly formed Wheaton Medical Group. Wheaton also will implement McKesson's document imaging, bar-coded medication administration, and clinical decision-support software.
