Royal Philips Electronics, the parent company of Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has restructured its Healthcare Informatics division to include the company's patient monitoring business.
The Healthcare Informatics unit now covers patient monitoring, enterprise and clinical image management, anesthesia information, women's health information, and cardiology information systems. Philips said it is making the move to reflect changes in patient monitoring, which is evolving from reactive displays of information into "rich clinical decision support solutions that are predictive and preventative."
The move will also enable Philips to find synergies between its expertise in software development and recent corporate acquisitions, such as Ximis, Emergin, and Visicu, according to Oran Muduroglu, CEO of the Healthcare Informatics division.
