Harris to launch digital signage for healthcare

International communications and information technology firm Harris of Melbourne, FL, is launching a new digital signage initiative for healthcare applications at this week's Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in Orlando, FL.

The company's Digital Signage technology is based on high-definition TV video and graphics, and is already being used for information display in other industries, such as banks, stadiums, airports, corporate offices, shopping malls, and resorts.

Hospitals and large medical centers have similar needs to communicate information quickly to visitors and employees, according to Harris. The company's Digital Signage products will include the InfoCaster content management system for creating large-format graphics and presentations.

In other HIMSS news, Harris is launching a new family of multi-image displays for monitoring multiple video sources in healthcare environments. The systems also allow medical personnel to conference with other specialists.
