Speech recognition and document management firm Nuance Communications of Burlington, MA, has completed its acquisition of eScription, a provider of computer-aided medical transcription software.
Nuance paid $363 million for eScription of Needham, MA, which will expand the product portfolio of Nuance's Dictaphone Healthcare division.
Nuance also has closed on its previously announced financing transaction with Warburg Pincus. The private equity firm purchased approximately 5.7 million shares of Nuance common stock at $17.36 per share for a total price of approximately $100 million, and the firm also acquired a warrant to purchase approximately 3.7 million shares of Nuance common stock, exercisable at $20 per share.
Proceeds from the Warburg Pincus transaction were used to fund a portion of the eScription acquisition, Nuance said.
