Carestream Health of Rochester, NY, has launched the newest version of its Information Management Solutions (IMS) software.
IMS enables clinicians to view medical imaging exams and other types of patient documents, in addition to managing and storing these files through a centralized database. Carestream believes that IMS enables users to improve their productivity because they no longer need to go to different locations to view different types of files.
The newest IMS upgrade lets clinicians view patient data and images from any location through a virtual desktop. It also lets them view laboratory and pathology reports, video files, and other patient data side-by-side with DICOM imaging studies.
The new IMS platform also supports standards such as the XDS (cross-enterprise document sharing) protocol, in addition to existing support of HL7 to receive and store reports together with clinical patient data and other documents from clinical information systems.
