Speech recognition and transcription technology provider MedQuist of Mount Laurel, NJ, saw a decrease in revenues for its second quarter (end-June 30), which the company attributed to customer losses in the second part of 2007.
Revenues for the second quarter of 2008 were $82.5 million, a 6% decrease compared to $88.7 million in the second quarter of 2007. Revenues for the six months ended June 30 were $166.1 million, a 6% decrease compared to $177.7 million in 2007.
Net income for the quarter was $1.8 million, compared with $5.9 million in 2007. For the six months ended June 30, the company had a net loss of $2.6 million, compared with a net income of $4 million for the same period the year before.
