Speech recognition firm Nuance Communications announced the release of its RadPort for Radiology 2.0 Web-based decision support software at the RSNA 2008 show in Chicago.
The new version enables secure Web-based decision support that is accessible via a computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system or on an independent Web browser. The application is designed to reduce potentially medically unnecessary exams by guiding analysis of the appropriateness of each exam at the point of service. It alerts the ordering physician about duplicate exams and displays the order history for the patient, according to the Burlington, MA-based company.
Nuance also announced it has signed a reseller agreement with radiology publisher Amirsys of Salt Lake City. To streamline radiology workflow, Nuance will integrate its PowerScribe for Radiology digital dictation package for medical transcription with Amirsys' STATdx Premier clinical decision reference system.
