WebMD Health, a subsidiary of healthcare IT firm HLTH of Elmwood Park, NJ, announced a collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) designed to increase consumer's access to the latest FDA information.
This partnership involves a new resource on the WebMD Web site (www.webmd.com/fda) with information on the safety of FDA-regulated products, including food, medicine, and cosmetics, and consumers can report problems directly to the FDA.
In addition, WebMD will send FDA health alerts to its registered users and site visitors upon request with a cross-linked joint resource that features the FDA's Consumer Updates.
Finally, the FDA will contribute Consumer Updates to WebMD the Magazine, a bimonthly print version of WebMD content that is distributed to physician office waiting rooms throughout the U.S. with an estimated readership of 9 million consumers.
