In a move aimed at advancing the cause of interoperability in information technology, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) will launch an Innovation Center in Cleveland in October.
HIMSS will lease 12,500 sq ft on the fourth level of the Global Center for Health Innovation (formerly the Cleveland Medical Mart) for the Innovation Center, which will serve as a testing, demonstration, exhibition, and educational facility, according to the society.
The HIMSS Innovation Center will provide ongoing services for health delivery organizations and health IT companies, along with exhibitions, educational programming, and consumer-oriented applications, HIMSS said. The year-round interoperability showcase and exhibition space will also further validate functionality for new and developing products using standards and customized testing in both a physical and virtual demonstration environment, according to the society.
HIMSS also plans to double the size of the exhibition space by 2016.
