Science Applications International (SAIC) has announced that its new national security, health, and engineering business will be called Leidos.
SAIC announced on August 30, 2012, that it would be splitting into two independent, publicly traded companies in 2013. Its technical services and enterprise IT business will continue using the SAIC name.
The company's current chief operating officer (COO), Stu Shea, will serve as president and COO of Leidos.
The split is expected to occur toward the end of the company's fiscal year, pending final approval of SAIC's board of directors, the firm said. The name change is subject to stockholder approval.
