Belgium-based BarcoView received 510(k) clearance in December for five display systems. The cleared products include both flat-panel and CRT monitors.
Coronis 2MP is a flat-panel grayscale dual- or single-head LCD display system with a 20.1-inch screen. Included is a pair of 1200 x 1600 grayscale flat panels, 10-bit graphics controller, cables, MediCal Pro medical calibration software, and I-Guard photo sensor that reads light emanating from the LCD screen.
Coronis 1MP is a flat-panel LCD display system that’s identical to Coronis 2MP, but has lower resolution and is slightly smaller, with an 18.1-inch screen. Coronis 5MP is a flat-panel LCD display system with higher resolution and a 21.3-inch screen.
ImageTile digital LCD lightbox is based on Barco’s 3MP panels, and is available in dual-head or quad-head configuration. With its integrated Web browser it is accessible over a network for remote diagnostics.
MeDis 2MP1NT medical diagnostic CRT display system is not a new product, but rather is a display system that an OEM such as a PACS vendor can buy. It includes the display, graphics controller, cables, drivers, and Barco’s MediCal QA software. It is a single-head, 2-megapixel Windows NT-based PACS workstation without the PC.
All of the products are already being shipped as part of PACS workstations marketed by Barco’s OEM customers, but Barco sought individual 510(k) clearances in order to be able to market the displays to end users and through distributors, according to Barco spokesperson Mike Feinstein in the company’s U.S. headquarters in Duluth, GA. The clearances also signify to Barco’s customers that the products are medical devices with features like DICOM support and quality assurance, Feinstein said.
