Agfa HealthCare is showcasing version 2.2 of its TalkStation speech recognition software at this week's Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in San Diego.
Contributed by subsidiary Talk Technology, TalkStation 2.2 includes workflow enhancements and tools to reduce report turnaround time. For example, the temporary patients feature enables the creation of reports without an encounter, accession number, or completed patient information, according to Agfa.
A Web-based remote administration tool allows administrators to remotely perform system-wide administrative functions, while a speech files manager capability allows speech files to be updated immediately or at a specified time. Agfa said it has also incorporated multiple department accessibility features that enable users to access radiology, cardiology, pathology, and emergency medicine from a single workstation.
In global developments, Agfa said it has achieved a 45% market share in the Italian RIS/PACS market. The Mortsel, Belgium-based company also has recently been awarded a project from the Macerata hospital group in the Marche region.
Agfa will be connecting seven hospitals and three polyclinics into a single, wide-area network-based RIS/PACS network. The project will link over 60% of the hospitals in the area and will handle approximately 230,000 imaging examinations per year, according to the vendor.
In other Agfa news, the firm has certified storage firm Xiotech's Magnitude storage platform for use with Impax PACS software. Via its SANbuilder for PACS series, Magnitude provides networked storage offerings ranging from 2.5 terabytes to 27 terabytes, according to Xiotech of Eden Prairie, MN.
