SAN DIEGO - Eastman Kodak Health Imaging and EMC of Hopkinton, MA, are collaborating to provide more flexible storage solutions for Kodak’s DirectView PACS platform. The relationship extends beyond the integration of software and hardware, according to Rochester, NY-based Kodak.
EMC will be working with Kodak as it develops new storage systems in an effort to optimize its hardware with the DirectView system. EMC’s RAID (redundant array of inexpensive disks) product has been brought online with Kodak’s current 4.x DirectView archive upgrade, according to James Niederhofer, Kodak PACS solutions sales portfolio director.
The EMC storage system addition is part of Kodak’s DirectView 5.x migration strategy, which the vendor plans on rolling out in the fourth quarter of 2003 and first quarter of 2004. The next step for the DirectView system is a planned upgrade of existing workstation modules to version 4.3, according to the firm.
