GE Medical Systems and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston have introduced a decision-support system designed to streamline the diagnostic imaging process by providing doctors with instant access to critical information.
With the system, physicians will be able to compare a patient's symptoms with thousands of other relevant patient histories, additional pertinent medical literature, and best practice guidelines to aid in selecting the most appropriate imaging study, Waukesha, WI-based GE and Brigham and Women's said. After the test is performed, physicians will be immediately notified on the availability of images and text reports.
GE, Brigham and Women's, and Brigham and Women's spin-off Medicalis collaborated on the development of the system. The system is being rolled out in phases, they said.
