SAN DIEGO - Medical device developer Fujifilm Medical Systems USA of Stamford, CT, is set to release a set of advanced Synapse Web Administration Tools (SWAT) for its Synapse PACS, version 3.0. The tools, showcased at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference, are designed to help users comply with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) security regulations.
The toolkit is comprised of three elements:
- A logging and reporting tool that features a flexible set of capabilities that permit a system administrator to track and log all system access and behavior, including logon/logout, data access, and data transfer. The data can be extracted and transferred to off-the-shelf external databases for plotting and trending purposes.
- A security tool that enables timed system auto-logouts and automatic clearing of ID caches.
- An access-control tool that enables a site to manage, control, and record all user and user group access to specified Synapse folders on the network.
Version 3.0 of Synapse, which is a no-charge upgrade, will be commercially available in the second quarter of this year, according to the company.
