Analogic reported third-quarter revenues of $100.3 million, up 38% compared with the $72.9 million posted in the same period last year. For the quarter (end-April 30), the company had net income of $6.4 million, compared with net income of $2.7 million a year ago.
The Peabody, MA-based firm attributed much of the revenue gains to continued shipments of its security imaging equipment. In its health businesses, president John Wood Jr. reported substantially increased sales growth in cardiovascular and information management equipment by its Camtronics subsidiary, and in advanced clinical ultrasound systems by its B-K Medical subsidiary.
Sales of CT data acquisition systems doubled, while the vendor's Sound Technology subsidiary turned in a strong quarter, Analogic said. Chairman and CEO Bernard Gordon said that the firm continues to focus substantial resources on developing new generations of medical imaging equipment. Analogic is developing CT systems for niche markets, as well as digital x-ray systems and subsystems for general radiography applications and mammography.
