GE Medical Systems Information Technologies has introduced version 2.0 of its Centricity PACS software. The new release, showcased at the Symposium for Computer Applications in Radiology in Boston last month, will allow users to access radiology and cardiology images, reports, and ECG waveforms from a single system, according to Waukesha, WI-based GE.
Centricity PACS 2.0 includes the integration of Centricity Web with the vendor's MUSE cardiology information system, allowing referring physicians to view radiology and cardiology images and information within the same digital patient folder, GE said.
The system's new Web distribution feature is designed to enhance image distribution speed for large and complex radiology and cardiology image sets, and will interface with clinical information systems such as an electronic medical record (EMR) or a clinical information repository system, according to the vendor.
It also includes a common storage and database platform for enterprise imaging with an open storage design. Storage hardware support includes EMC's Clariion, Symmetrix, and Centera offerings, GE said.
The workstation software can be supported by any Windows XP or Windows 2000-powered PC, and includes options for automatic display of nuclear, PET, ultrasound, and post-processing exams on a separate color monitor, GE said. It also has Food and Drug Administration clearance for use in soft-copy mammography reading.
The first version of Centricity PACS has been installed at more than 100 hospitals, GE said.
