Group purchasing organization VHA of Irving, TX, and IBM of White Plains, NY, have expanded a previous contract between the organizations. The new relationship covers IBM storage products, including disk storage, tape storage systems, and network-attached storage. Also added are IBM iSeries and pSeries servers, as well as Cisco networking hardware products and maintenance services to VHA’s U.S. network of 2,200 community-owned healthcare organizations.
The new storage offerings are intended to help participating healthcare organizations improve their data storage capabilities for PACS and privacy and security initiatives such as compliance with the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), said VHA.
