Eastman Kodak Health Imaging turned in second-quarter worldwide sales of $571 million, up 1% compared with the $565 million reported for the same period a year ago. Net sales in the U.S. were $251 million, down 8% from the $273 million reported in for the third quarter of 2002. Net sales outside the U.S. were $320 million, a 10% increase compared with $292 million reported for the same quarter last year.
For the period (end-September 30), the Rochester, NY-based company’s Health Imaging division had operating earnings of $117 million for the third quarter of 2003, down from the $126 million posted in the same period last year. Gross profit for the Health Imaging segment was $250 million compared with $246 million for the year-ago quarter, representing a 2% increase.
Quarterly highlights included a 4% increase in sales of digital radiography and computed radiography systems, as well as PACS networks, compared with the third quarter of 2002, Kodak said.
