PACS provider Brit Systems reported that it is on track to complete installation of its Roentgen Files PACS software at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center early this month. The PACS is designed to act as a central repository and worklist control point for the Veterans Integrated Service Network 12 (VISN 12), which conducts approximately 200,000 exams per year, Britt said.
The system includes a DICOM server, archive, Web server, HL7 interface engine, and modality worklist server residing on three IBM RS/6000 workstations. In addition, an IBM storage-area network (SAN) encompasses short-term storage and an EMC SAN provides archival storage to the PACS.
Additional equipment provided by Brit includes quality-control workstations, film digitizers, and CD burners. The company also provided DICOM integration services for the modalities and existing archives and HL7 integration services into VistA, the VA’s hospital information system, and CPRS, the VA’s electronic medical record system.
