Startup CoActiv will make its RSNA debut with Exam-PACS.
CoActiv, which was founded by information technology firm Amsys, claims that its Exam-PACS goes for less than half the cost of competing PACS networks. Exam-PACS includes standard PACS capabilities utilizing PCs and PC servers, as well as ExamSender, which allows for instant forwarding of exams and related information to colleagues for consultation or to referring physicians for review, according to the Ridgefield, CT-based vendor. The physician is then alerted when the exam arrives on his desktop.
Exam-PACS users can access attached files such as reports, voice clips, e-mails, and insurance information, as well as burn images and information on a custom Exam-CD. This feature also comes with a custom viewer. CoActiv can provide off-site archiving at its two data centers, as well as onsite storage for six to 12 months of exams, according to the vendor.
Exam-PACS is a modular system based on a series of DICOM-compliant software applications and PC components, CoActiv said. The vendor will show Exam-PACS integrated with MantisIQ RIS from Mantis Technology in its booth. Exam-PACS is currently in use at several hospitals and imaging centers in Connecticut and New York.
