A new release of the vendor’s ViewForum software is on tap.
ViewForum 3.2 adds new packages for different application areas. An Ortho Specialist bundle combines two orthopedics packages previously sold as part of Philips’ EasyVision modality software.
Another package, legs, provides reconstruction and viewing of images of the entire lower limb anatomy, while a spine package offers spine reconstructions from a digitally acquired series of small spine images. Virtual endoscopy functionality, also previously part of Philips’ EasyVision modality software, is included in an Endo3D Specialist bundle.
Endo3D Basic and Endo Auto Path packages (for automatic path tracking) are also available, as is 3-D Advanced Segmentation for automatic removal or selection of parts of interest in the volume. Other packages include 3-D vascular analysis, bolus-chase reconstruction, and colon map.
Release 3.2 will begin shipping in January 2004. It’s available for modality workstations and consoles, and is also integrated into Philips PACS workstations, according to the vendor. Philips will also show ViewForum Pro, a work-in-progress application that integrates flexible and interactive 3-D visualization.
In other developments, Philips has incorporated concurrent user methodology into its PACS offerings, including clinical applications, RIS desktop integration, and speech recognition. The company will also present customer experiences with its professional services program.
