Image storage and management firm Procom Technology has added an enterprise-level storage system to its DataForce line of CD/DVD-ROM appliances.
DataForce 800R provides up to 2 terabytes (TB) of RAID-5 protected storage and can access data 220 times faster than optical media, according to the Irvine, CA-based firm. The system supports Microsoft Windows, Linux, Apple Macintosh, SCO UNIX, and Novell NetWare, allowing seamless integration into heterogeneous network environments, Procom said.
The system connects all users on a network, via 10/100/1000 BaseT Ethernet, allowing cross-platform access and file sharing of thousands of CDs or hundreds of DVDs. Additionally, multiple CDs and DVDs can be mounted under a single Windows drive letter, the firm said. The appliance carries a suggested retail price of $12,995.
