The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) of Rosslyn, VA, has issued a white paper on protecting medical information systems from malicious software.
Entitled "Defending Medical Information Systems Against Malicious Software," the paper provides a guide for vendors and users on how to protect medical information technology from Trojan horses, viruses, Internet worms, and other e-nuisances. The full text is available as a PDF document at http://www.nema.org/medical/SPC.
The paper was a joint effort between NEMA, Europe’s Coordination Committee of the Radiological and Electromedical Industry (COCIR), and the Japan Industries Association of Radiological Systems (JIRA). A presentation on the paper will take place at the upcoming HIMSS conference in Orlando on Tuesday, February 24 at 11:30 a.m. in the IHE Theatre.
