ORLANDO, FL - Radiology information systems firm VitalWorks and its wholly owned PACS subsidiary Amicas unveiled a new electronic medical records (EMR) application, an enhanced practice-management suite, and a workflow accelerator for its Web-based PACS at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) on Monday.
Amicas demonstrated the final beta version of its Workflow Accelerator at the conference. The application feature automatically caches the next study for a patient in relative priority to ensure a radiologist is a study ahead of the current task. The software also is capable of automatically optimizing data transmission on the basis of the radiologist’s active workstation connection speed, said Hamid Tabatabaie, Amicas CEO and president. The feature will be commercially available by the end of March, Tabatabaie said.
Ridgefield, CT-based VitalWorks showcased its Ingenuity EMR, the company’s next-generation electronic medical records system. Currently in beta testing, Ingenuity EMR operates on an advanced Web and Java-based platform similar to the firm’s flagship RadConnect RIS product and is designed to handle the EMR needs of enterprise-level healthcare organizations, VitalWorks said.
The firm also debuted the latest iteration of its Intuition product line at the conference. The suite provides a group of integrated data-management products for small- to medium-sized group practices. Based on a Microsoft Windows client-server platform, the product suite features the Intuition PM and Intuition EMR practice management and electronic medical records systems, and also includes wireless charge capture, Palm handheld integration, Web-based patient services, and comprehensive EDI services, the company said.
