Bycast gets funding, new client, new chairman

Archive and image distribution provider Bycast has garnered new funding, signed a new client, and appointed a new executive chairman to its board of directors.

The Vancouver-based vendor was selected by Mercy Hospital in Miami to provide its Bycast StorageGrid product to power Mercy’s enterprise medical image archive. The product will integrate image archives from a Canon Medical Systems PACS in the radiology department and a Philips Medical Systems PACS in the cardiology department, Bycast said.

In other news, Bycast said it closed a $10 million round of funding from new and existing investors. The financing was lead by XJ Partners, and all significant existing shareholders participated, the company said.

Lastly, the firm has appointed William Tatham as the executive chairman of its board of directors. Tatham succeeds the current acting chairman, Dr. Moe Kermani, who remains a director on the board as well as Bycast’s president and CEO.
