RIS and PACS developer Merge eFilm’s Fusion PACS has been selected by imaging services provider InSight Health Services of Newport Beach, CA.
The PACS is scheduled for implementation at a cluster of 10 imaging centers and will interface with InSight Health’s existing information system. Insight Health has 92 fixed site facilities in the U.S. serving more than 60,000 patients each month, said Milwaukee-based Merge.
In other news, Merge eFilm reported that it has released version 1.4 of its ExamWorks software. The product is used to expand the IHE workflow capabilities of legacy modalities, such as CT, MRI, or ultrasound, with features such as DICOM Modality Worklist, Modality Performed Procedure Step, and Storage Commitment Services.
The new iteration includes DICOM Prospective Modality Worklist, which allows a technologist to select a patient to be used for the study before acquiring images, and DICOM Compressed Output, which allows a user to configure the system to output compressed images to storage targets, increasing network throughput and reducing digital image storage costs, Merge said.
A patient/procedure completion log feature in the product permits a technologist to see the status of storage commitment at a modality, rather than going to the PACS for status. ExamWorks 1.4 has been upgraded to include Sun Microsystems’ Java v1.4 platform and the MergeCOM-3 Advanced Integrator’s Tool Kit v3.11, which improves the product’s overall performance, the company said. The product also includes enhanced remote-support capabilities for troubleshooting, minimizing system downtime, and facilitating customer training, according to Merge.
