Sorna rolls out Open LiteBox

PACS technology developer Sorna has released Open LiteBox, a software package designed to aid in transferring a patient's DICOM CD or DVD into a digital image and information management system.

Open LiteBox Administrator allows users to automatically import DICOM images from DICOM CDs and DVDs. A DICOM modality worklist feature obtains patient and study demographics from a worklist server broker and then incorporates the information with the images to be transferred, according to the Rosemount, MN-based firm.

Users could elect, as an alternative, to obtain and incorporate patient information into images by performing a DICOM query of the archive. It's also possible to manually enter patient demographics or study information for reconciliation with the RIS, Sorna said. A DICOM storage service class user (SCU) feature transmits selected images and reports to the PACS with a single mouse click, according to the firm.

Sorna is also debuting a viewer-only version of Open LiteBox, which adds viewing and image processing functionality to PCs, Sorna said. In addition, this application provides a consistent image display graphical user interface (GUI), regardless of the source of the CD or DVD, according to the vendor.
