Eastman Kodak Health Imaging will provide a number of its imaging technologies for use at next month's Olympic Games in Athens. The Rochester, NY-based vendor will be installing a PACS and RIS network at the Polyclinic, the primary medical center for the Olympics.
As a result, digital x-ray images, CT scans, and other images and accompanying reports will be able to be sent to specialists at the Attiko University Hospital in Athens, which will receive a RIS/PACS workstation to allow users to view and make diagnoses from the images and written reports transmitted by the Polyclinic, Kodak said.
In addition to the RIS/PACS network, Kodak is also equipping the Polyclinic with its CR 850 and CR 950 computed radiography systems, its DryView 8900, 8300, and 8200 laser imagers, as well as a range of digital dental imaging equipment.
The Polyclinic is expected to perform medical imaging studies for up to 140 patients day, and to complete more than 2,000 imaging exams over the course of the Games, according to Kodak.
The company has also installed its DirectView DR 9000 at KAT Hospital, a large trauma treatment hospital in Greece. KAT Hospital will also assist in serving individuals associated with the Olympic Games. A CR 850 system will also be employed to capture imaging studies of horses at the Olympic Equestrian Center in Athens, Kodak said.
