Multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions and computer giant IBM have signed an agreement to deliver medical image management systems for the worldwide healthcare industry.
The IBM-Siemens relationship addresses management of the growing volume of digital medical images produced by radiological examinations, Siemens said. The duo has combined Siemens' Sienet RIS/PACS with IBM's eServer and TotalStorage technology as a product offering.
The partnership has recently installed its paired solution at University Hospital Brno in the Czech Republic and St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, according to the vendors.
IBM and Siemens will jointly market Siemens Sienet Cosmos and Sienet Magic image management systems running on IBM's eServer and TotalStorage platforms, including IBM open middleware. In sales to new customers, Siemens will offer IBM as a computer platform of choice. IBM will provide consulting, customization, and integration services for joint IBM and Siemens solutions.
