Three-dimensional-software developer Vital Images posted record revenue for its second quarter as the Plymouth, MN, company returned to profitability.
For the period (end-June 30), Vital Images posted revenues of $8 million, up 7% compared to $7.5 million in revenues for the second quarter of 2003. The company said its growth was due to market-share gains thanks to direct sales and its distribution relationship with Toshiba Medical Systems of Japan. Other positive factors include more orders through the company’s PACS relationship with McKesson Information Solutions and higher sales of CT cardiac and CT vessel-probe options.
On the profitability side, Vital Images posted net income of $95,000, compared with net income of $666,000 in the same period a year ago. The company recorded a one-time charge in the most recent period of $327,000 due to amortization of assets related to its acquisition of HInnovation.
