Eastman Kodak Health Imaging has signed a four-year research and development pact with the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY, covering the development of new digital imaging and information technology products.
Under the terms of the deal, Kodak and URMC engineers will collaborate on product-development efforts for technologies that will become next-generation Kodak products, according to the company, which is also based in Rochester. The university will serve as a showcase for current and future Kodak products.
As part of the agreement, URMC will purchase a range of Kodak digital imaging products, such as its System 5 PACS product and enterprise information management software, which enable data from radiology and other clinical specialties to be managed from a single centralized archive. URMC conducts some 300,000 radiology exams a year, and will use Kodak's software to link multiple hospitals and outpatient facilities.
