Two new versions of Clariion and a Centera release are on tap for this storage vendor.
EMC will debut Clariion CX700, a networked storage system designed to yield short-term viewing of images for patients under current medical care, according to the Hopkinton, MA-based vendor. Designed for midtier networked storage applications, Clariion CX700 offers 58.4 TB of raw capacity, four 3-GHz processors, and eight back-end fibre channel disk ports.
The system also provides linear disk scalability of up to 240 drives with cached performance of 200,000 input/output per second (IOPS) and 1520 MB/second. Clariion storage software is also included, contributing automated Web-based management, array-based local replication, synchronous and asynchronous remote mirroring, provisioning, and multiarray management.
Another new Clariion version, AX100, is aimed at entry-level networked storage environments. Also suitable to support viewing of images for patients under current medical care, AX100 comprises 12 serial ATA (SATA) drives in a 2U (3.5-inch), rack-mountable enclosure, according to the firm. Capacities range from 480 GB to 3 TB.
EMC will also take the opportunity to unwrap Centera Universal Access Version 2.1. The new release of EMC's content-addressed storage (CAS) platform features native support for all four major industry-standard protocols: network file system (NFS), common internet file system (CIFS), file transfer protocol (FTP), and hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP).
