Italian ultrasound vendor Esaote has introduced BioPACS, a postprocessing software tool designed for patient-oriented ultrasound image data management.
A single-server, entry-level Windows-based workstation, BioPACS is compatible with all Esaote and other DICOM-compatible ultrasound systems, according to the Genoa, Italy-based vendor. It can archive, review, and report digital ultrasound data via the creation of specific databases.
BioPACS can manage single-frame or multiframe images by networking multiple ultrasound systems together, Esaote said. The software also supports both DICOM and commercial image formats, providing access to specific exams archived in a system database or network folder.
In addition, BioPACS automatically imports measurements, and its search tools provide for queries of digital archives by criteria such as patient name and exam date, Esaote said. Multiple exams can also be selected for review using a "drag-and-drop" approach.
