PACS and RIS provider Merge eFilm has signed a definitive agreement to purchase advanced visualization software developer AccuImage Diagnostics.
Milwaukee-based Merge eFilm will pay $6 million in cash for South San Francisco, CA-based AccuImage, which has developed technology for 3D/4D visualization, calcium scoring, virtual colonoscopy, CT angiography, lung nodule detection, subcutaneous fat measurement, and image stitching.
The acquisition will strengthen the value of Merge eFilm's Fusion RIS/PACS network to its direct and OEM/VAR customers, said president and CEO Richard Linden. The company plans to integrate AccuImage's advanced visualization tools into its Fusion RIS/PACS and Fusion PACS offerings.
The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2005, subject to customary closing conditions.
