IDX to use ScanSoft's speech-recognition software

Healthcare informatics developer IDX Systems of Burlington, VT, has selected ScanSoft's Dragon NaturallySpeaking SDK software to integrate a speech-recognition capability into its Imagecast RIS/PACS product line.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking converts speech to text at up to 160 words per minute, and allows software applications to respond to verbal commands, according to Peabody, MA-based ScanSoft.
