Software developer DatCard Systems of Irvine, CA, has filed suit in a U.S. federal court to prevent Codonics of Middleburg Heights, OH, from infringing on a newly awarded patent.
The legal action asserts that Codonics unlawfully included DatCard's patented technology in Codonics' Virtua and Virtua XR products without DatCard’s permission. DatCard is seeking an injunction, damages for past infringement, and an award of attorneys' fees against Codonics.
DatCard's technology is designed to distribute and record DICOM medical image data onto CDs or DVDs that can be read without specialized viewing software. The patented technology is featured in DatCard's PacsCube and SmartLine products.
